Faculty Led Workshop: Intersection of Domestic Violence and Child Welfare
110636

This three-hour workshop provides an opportunity for DCYF staff to broaden and strengthen their knowledge of and response to domestic violence experienced by the children and families with whom they work. Dynamics and definitions of domestic violence are explored through research and advocacy praxis. Workshop participants discuss potential strategies for engagement, assessment, and intervention with families where domestic violence is occurring (or has occurred). The workshop is offered by an EWU social work faculty member and will reference current research, the DCYF domestic violence training, and the 2016 Social Worker’s Practice Guide to Domestic Violence.
