Caregiver Core Training (CCT)

No, we require each individual to attend all eight sessions to be eligible for a certificate. For our courses, we require each individual to create an online account to track their course registrations and completions. If a person attends all classes in a course, their account will show that course as completed with a certificate. If a person does not attend all classes in a course, their account will not show that course as completed.
For CCT online, each individual must complete all eight sessions on their own to receive a certificate.

  1. Please go to our course catalog.
  2. Click on the Caregivers box underneath the Course Catalog Menu header. Courses are listed here in alphabetical order. Scroll down and click on the Caregiver Core Training (CCT) online box. The grey box will expand with content below the Caregiver Core Training (CCT) online title. Scroll down.
  3. If you are logged in, click on Go to eLearning to access your training portal.
    • If you are not logged in, click on Login to Access eLearning. Enter your username/password and then click Log in. You will then be taken to the training portal.
    • If you do not yet have a profile, please create one by clicking on the Create new account tab. Fill out all required fields labeled with an asterisk. Each individual will need their own account with a unique user name and email address. Please use the same email as the one you use with DCYF. (If you do not have your own email address, we recommend that you create a free account through Google's gmail.) After you save your profile, you will receive an email with instructions on how to set your password. Once your profile is created and you have logged in, please restart these instructions from Step 1.
  4. In the training portal, click on the Launch button next to the Session you would like to start.

To view your course registrations, please click on My Courses beneath your name in the upper right corner of your browser. You will find classroom courses and webinars under the Instructor-Led tab. Caregiver Core Training (CCT) Online will be under the Self-paced tab.

Yes, caregivers are required to attend all eight sessions to receive a certificate for Caregiver Core Training.
If you miss a session, you will need to attend the same session in a different training series. You can find all of our offerings on our course catalog.
When you find a makeup session that works, register for the entire training series but only attend the session(s) you missed. Please contact the instructor to alert them of your plans. Instructor contact information is listed in the “Special Information” section after you click “Register Now”.

Our organization is responsible for teaching the courses and recording registrations/completions. You will need to contact the Division of Licensing Resources (DLR) to get an answer to your question about whether your spouse/partner needs a certificate. Contact information can be found here (Click on the "Contact Us" tab).

 

We strongly recommend that you take the sessions in order if possible. The eight sessions are structured to build on the information covered in all previous sessions.
If you need to join a series mid-way, please contact the instructor to discuss whether it is appropriate for you to join. The instructors will need to summarize prior concepts so it is up to their discretion whether this will be disruptive to the class. Instructor contact information is listed in the “Special Information” section after you click “Register Now”.

No, we currently cannot apply a single online session to your classroom attendance. You may decide to take the online version, but you will have to start from the beginning.

Caregiver Core Training (CCT) is the mandatory training for Washington State’s caregivers to become licensed. The 24-hr courses consists of eight, three-hour sessions. You must attend all eight sessions to be eligible for a certificate.
Caregiver Core Training can be taken two ways – online or in the classroom. Both the online and classroom training cover the same critical content.

Ongoing Training Courses

All licensed foster homes are required to complete the following ongoing training hours to maintain their license:
    •    36 hours during their first three year licensing period
    •    30 hours during their second three year licensing period
    •    24 hours during all subsequent three year licensing periods

The Alliance for Child Welfare Excellence offers a three ongoing training options that can be completed online:
    •    eLearnings
    •    Webinars
    •    Videos
eLearnings and webinars can be found in our course catalog. To search for them, follow these instructions:
1. Go to the course catalog and click on the Caregivers box underneath the Course Catalog Menu header.
2. Click on the Delivery Method dropdown menu.
3. Select either E-Learning or Webinar.
4. Click Search. Scroll down to view the results.

Training Certification

Once you have completed all eight sessions and the field experience, you need to request a coaching session with one of our trainers to receive a certificate. To request one, please follow these steps:

    •    Re-access the training portal and click Launch for Session 8.
    •    Scroll down to the end of Session 8.
    •    Click Coaching Session under the headline How Do I Schedule a Coaching Session?.
    •    Fill out the form and click Submit. A trainer will contact you to schedule your session.

When your certificate is ready after the coaching session, you may access it by following these steps:
1. Log in to your account here.
2. Click My Courses underneath your name in the upper right corner of your browser.
3. Click on the Self-paced tab.
4. Click on the Certificate link in the same row as Caregiver Core Training (CCT) online.

4. Click on the Certificate link in the same row as the class for which you need a certificate.

Account Access/Password Reset

Please follow the step-by-step process below to reset your password.
1. Please start the password reset process by clicking here.
2. Enter your username or email address into the form. Click Email new password. You must enter the same email already associated with your account
3. Check your email. You will receive an email with a link. Click on the link. Be sure to check any SPAM or Junk Folders in case the email got filtered.
4. The link will take you to a website with a blue "Log in" button that can only be used once. Click Log in. If it doesn't work, it means you've already used that page before or started another password request. Please start from the beginning to reset.
5. You'll be taken to your profile page where you can add a new password. Retype the same password in the Confirm password field.
6. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save.
