In 2019, 49,263 investigations were conducted for allegations of child abuse or neglect.  Of these, 66 per 1,000 households were screened-in with concerns for child safety, and then received a CPS investigation or assessment for other services.

On a typical day in Washington state, approximately 8,000 children live in foster care.

The Alliance for Child Welfare Excellence makes a positive impact in the lives of children in care and their families by providing world-class training for social workers, caregivers (including foster parents), and people who support and manage social workers.

All of these efforts are measured and evaluated so that we can continuously improve our own practices and the practices of other programs.
