Washington State has over 1.6 million children. In 2016, over 3,500 families experienced a founded allegation for child abuse or neglect, which is about 6 per 1,000 households with children.
On a typical day, over 10,000 Washington children are in foster care.
The Alliance for Child Welfare Excellence makes a positive impact in the lives of children in care and their families by providing world-class training for Social Workers, caregivers (including Foster Parents), and people who support and manage social workers.
To date from our catalog of more than 250 courses, we have provided:
- Core training for 2,400 new Caregivers and over 200 new Social Workers
- Over 300 coaching sessions for Social Workers
- Inservice training for over 1,100 licensed Caregivers and 2,700 Social Workers
Since 2012, 367 Master of Social Work have graduated from three Universities through the Child Welfare Training and Advancement Program (CWTAP).
All of these efforts are measured and evaluated so that we can continiously improve our own practices and the practices of other programs.
