This annual conference is a dynamic forum for trainers within the field of child welfare and foster care to share innovations, improve skills, and support each other. The University of Washington in Seattle, WA is excited to host the 2018 West Coast Child Welfare Trainers Conference!

Networking Information 

In the spirit of this conference, we’ve arranged social events for each evening. We hope you enjoy as many of these networking opportunities as possible. Details below:

Dinner at the University Village!

Tuesday July 31st, 2018 at 5:30pm-8:30pm

Join us for an optional networking dinner at the University Village – “Seattle’s Unique, Open-Air Shopping and Dining Destination”

We’ll have a conference planning committee member host a table at each of the following restaurants:

Come out and enjoy great food and get to know new people in some of the most delicious dining destinations Seattle has to offer! When you register, please indicate if you plan to join us, and at which restaurant. NOTE: You do not need to attend the pre-conference to join us for this networking dinner on July 31st. Attendees will pay for their own meals. 

Networking and Appetizers Social Reception

Wednesday August 1st, 2018 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm 

Please join us in the University of Washington School of Social Work Gallery where you can meet up with colleagues new and old. Registered Conference Attendees come and enjoy appetizers, beer/wine, and a great time with your colleagues!

Mariner’s Game!

Thursday August 2nd, 2017 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

If you are looking for a fun time in Seattle, you can ‘t beat a Mariners game at Safeco Field in the summer! The Mariners will be playing the Toronto Blue Jays, and the game starts at 7:10 pm. Please indicate when you register if you’ll be joining us for this game. NOTE: if you’ll be attending the baseball game, you can purchase a discounted ticket for $20.00 when you register for the conference, additional tickets for non-conference attendees can also be purchased for $35.00 each. To receive the discounted ticket rate, you need to confirm your purchase by July 1st, 2018. 

Accommodations 

Conference attendees have two options for lodgings - University Inn and Watertown. The hotels are located next to each other and are only a few blocks away from the University of Washington campus. You can book your rooms now at the links below:

Transportation  

Seattle has many wonderful public transportation options to get you to the hotel from the airport, the University Village, Safeco Field, and around the city to see all the sites! Transportation options include Metro bus and Light Rail, or you can choose to take an Uber, Lyft, or taxi for a reasonable rate. We will have transportation options and instructions available to all conference attendees as part of your Welcome Packet!

Welcome to Seattle!

Seattle is home to a bustling waterfront, where you can eat world famous fish and chips, or take a ferry ride to Bainbridge Island, the Space Needle, built for the 1962 World’s Fair, world famous food, and over 40 museums! Including, the Seattle Art Museum, the Museum of Pop Culture, the Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture and the Henry Art Gallery, which are on the University of WA campus.

All of these, and many other amazing treats Seattle has to offer are a quick bus ride away from the University of WA, which is in the city’s north-of-center University District.
